Michael Gavrilis graduated from Seattle University School of Law, ranked #1 in the nation for Legal Writing during Michael’s studies, though it has now declined to #8 in the many years since. Michael takes writing seriously, having written for the Office of Public Advocacy, Alaska Legal Services Corporation, and the Municipal of Anchorage all while still a 3L in Law School. Upon graduation, Michael immediately spent two years engaged in research and writing as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Anchorage Superior Court – all before the advent of Large Language Models, including ChatGPT. Upon completion of his second year of clerking, Michael went on to prosecute felonies as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of Alaska, where he continued to write, but also learned the art of trial and negotiations. Michael graduated from the Anchorage Prosecutors’ trial advocacy academy and continued prosecuting until shortly after the birth of his first-born son.
Since becoming a father, Michael has practiced exclusively in the private sector as a general practitioner, litigator, and writer. All throughout this time, Michael has served and continues to serve in the United States Army Reserve, most recently as a Captain in the planning and operations department of the 3301st Mobilization Support Battalion. Michael knows what it means to place family above all else, and is particularly passionate about family law. Additionally, Michael has extensive corporate and business law experience, including corporate litigation. His other primary practice areas include – employment, criminal, and controlled substance licensing. Michael is actively licensed to practice law in Alaska and New Hampshire.
