Investigating and Mediating Discrimination
The Alaska State Commission for Human Rights (“ASCHR”) is a state agency that investigates complaints of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or marital status. Any person who believes they have been discriminated against based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or marital status may file a complaint with ASCHR.
ASCHR’s claims process can be difficult to complete if a person has never dealt with the process before. There is no requirement to have legal representation when submitting a claim to ASCHR. Moreover, ASCHR will not penalize a party for appearing without a lawyer. Qualified legal counsel, however, can assist you in maximizing your claim.
